Yellowstone Day 1 (On The Way To Flagstaff) - 16 May 2013
Leaving the Hotel, Socorror, NM
This is the first day of my spring adventure. This years event is to ride the motorcycle to Yellowstone with some stops along the way. The first stop will be to the Overland Expo near Flagstaff, AZ. After that, I'll spend a couple days driving to Yellowstone where I'll spend three days.
The trip didn't start all that well. Even though I was fully packed the night before, I didn't hit the road nearly by the time I planned. The first problem was being stuck at work an hour longer than planned. Then, even though I made up a lot of that time by hitting the road only 30 minutes late, I had to return. About 15 miles down the road, I realized I forgot an important electrical cord back at home. The same plug I was using to keep the battery charged back at home also allowed me to power my little portable air compressor. Since I knew I needed to periodically pump up my tires, I couldn't leave without it. Back I went.
Then, I had to turn around a second time when I realized five miles down the road I didn't confirm the garage door was closed. Arrrrrg!! 90 minutes later than planned I hit the road.
