Photography by Tom Hill
This site is dedicated to my pursuit of understanding the outdoors by using photography. You should be able to see and understand how and why I shoot the way I do. Along the way, you’ll be able to see one or two great images I’ve made through the years.
To a great extent, all images on this site are as they were when I saw the scene. In all cases, I tried to recreate the “vision” I saw when shooting. In many cases, this requires some “work” during post processing to overcome the limitations of the tools I use today. Generally, none of the post processing techniques I use are any different than what the classic great photographers would’ve used in their darkrooms. I just happen to have a digital darkroom that takes advantage of the tremendous computing power available today.
You might already have experienced that images that first come out of a camera do not represent the tremendous scenes you might’ve witnessed. Unfortunately, this is the state of photography nowadays and it causes photographers like me or you to do post processing. We’ll hear more about this subject throughout the site.
Enjoy yourself. Send me a message when you can. Generally I’m pretty responsive to any inquiries. I love working with other photographers that share the same passion I do.
Cheers
Tom Hill
