Sunset on Cadillac Mountain - Acadia National Park, Me
I didn't get to Acadian National Park until it was really late. I was a bit desperate to not waste the coming sunset. I figured going to the lop of the nearest high peak was the best idea. Having never been Acadian National Park and having not done any scouting, it seemed like the best idea. Well, I didn't get to the top. I pull off at the first turn off and I wasn't the only one with this idea. The place was packed.
This is a very difficult shooting situation, especially when you're not using filters to reduce the brightness of the sun. Instead of fighting the bright exposure, I decided to simply let the camera washout the sun and expose for the foreground. What I'm most impressed with is the really soft quality of over-exposed blown out area where the sun is. It's kind of pillowy soft isn't it. I'm very impressed with what my little Canon G12 Point and Shoot can do.
