First day of the workshop with my client. Contrary to yesterday's post I actually have bird pictures to post here. I've been to this lek many many times before and it's always been a winner for me for mornings. In evenings, it's been almost 100% as well. That's good because we're going there tonight.
When I met my client yesterday I described to him how the morning would go. I pointed out that you'll hear the birds well before you could see them. Then, you'll see shadows running around. That's when you wish you could be shooting. Then, the sun will almost rise and still the light won't be good enough to allow the camera to work correctly. You'll be frustrated by everything first thing.
Sure enough, he was overwhelmed with everything. The birds arrived as predicted. They were there as described though much closer than he imagined. He was excited. In fact, he was so excited he totally missed the relatively intense cool breeze that was making parts of my body fall off. He missed that discomfort. The birds were too awesome.
My results were excellent. The subjects weren't nearly as active as I'd seen them other times. But, it was good enough for my goal of shooting environmental shots like the one showcased here.
This evening will be more of the same except with different light. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.
