Prairie Field After Rain - Herrington, KS, File #1230198
Link To Original Image
This trip I hadn't stopped much to enjoy the scenery and shoot a couple of high quality pictures using my big camera. While I've been exploring the concept of doing serious photography when using my motorcycle, when going places I rarely stop and bring out the big gun, my DSLR. In most cases I simply use my iPhone or my Canon G12 to get the picture then move on.
In this case, I just got out of a fairly substantial rain shower when I happened on this recently drenched field. As you know, after rain colors become so much more saturated. The Saturation tool in photoshop should not be touched when shooting in these conditions.
In this case, the color attracted my eye which made me stop and pull out my new D800 DSLR and my almost as new 24mm Tilt/Shift lens.
In this case, I could not have made this image with so few shots--i.e. only two--without using the D800 and the tilt/shift lens. The camera gave me the detail resolution. The lens gave me the ability to tile the depth of field (DOF) of the image so it included the near objects and the far trees. Normally you can't get this near far sharpness thing especially when shooting at only f/8 unless you have a tilt/shift lens.
To really appreciate the capabilities of both these pieces of equipment look at the link above at full scale.
