Picking Up Vicki - El Paso, Tx (File# 1403791)
__________
Just started a trip to northern New Mexico for a few days. I'm checking out Taos. My sister is in town so I'll have company while trouping around the area.
I've been to Taos a few times. Most of those trips were simple over nights or at most two night. This will be a two night trip but I'll spend almost all our vacation time in town and the surrounding areas.
Vicki and I visited here about five years ago. It was a great trip. This time will be excellent getting reacquainted with the local areas.Breakfast Place - Las Vegas, NM (File # 1403792)

Our first stop on the trip was for lunch in Las Vegas. For those that don't know, there's a Las Vegas New Mexico and it's nothing like the one in Nevada. It doesn't nearly have the bright lights and glitz. It does have some low-key dinners which make good food.Grocery Store - Taos, NM (File# 1403797)

Okay, taking pictures at the grocery store isn't the normal thing for an artistic image. But, you do what you have to do. We stopped there only to checkout the prices and the content of the store. I've never heard of the brand. The items and the prices at the store seemed to put it in the Trader Joes or Whole Foods category. For a little town of 5,000 people, I think Taos is quite lucky to have such a good grocery store.Walking Around Downtown - Taos, NM (File# 1403799)

Vicki and I talked through a little of the downtown area of Taos. It's pretty nice. Definitely a small Santa Fe feel to the place. We didn't go far.
After stopping at the shop where she bought a great wool coat five years ago, we dropped in this outdoor outfitter place on the west side of the main area. Turned out they were having a gigantic sale going on. Since Vicki was going to Alaska and didn't have some important warm clothing things, she bought a few garments.Margarita Dinner - Taos, NM (File# # 1403801)

The night ended at the Taos Inn at the Doc Martin restaurant. This is by far the best margarita I've had in years. Yes, it was expensive but it was sooooo gooood.
And, I had the elk burger which was faaaaantastic. I'm told the secret to game meat is cooking it less. I got my burger medium rare--it was perfectly cook. It tasted great.
